SENSE OF JANUARY BY MARTA KABATIŅA
My feeling this month is the beginning of a new year. Start with new inspiration and energy to go towards the freshness of spring and bring lightness, character and the new to your projects.
How do architecture and design contribute to change in the environment and society?
Architecture and design, like art, allow the new to enter our lives. Some of the new takes root and becomes the norm. Beautiful things, spaces, buildings and even streets bring spark, wonder and smile to our lives. I believe in the beautiful.
What is the first component you think of when you start working on a new object?
At the initial stage, it is important for me to get very little information about the object, then to pause this topic and focus on the client. The client's personality is the most important factor in project development and implementation. The budget, shades and brands will come by themselves, everything will happen organically if you manage to establish a trust-based partner relationship with the client.
What other areas do you draw inspiration from?
Definitely nature and travel. At each travel destination, I try to see something remarkable, see and feel the local architecture and take a piece of it with me.
What was the most valuable advice someone has given you?
My husband once advised me to view the complications and challenges in my projects as the most valuable lessons that no amount of money can buy. Only complex projects allow you to grow and reach new heights.
