SENSE OF JULY BY RITA LAUDER

July 28, 2022

My feeling this month is formed by the desire to transfer my usual everyday life and be closer to nature. To experience peace and harmony, the rhythm of nature, while at the same time working and being in an environment that stimulates ideas. Listen and understand.

What is the first component you think of when you start working on a new object?

The context of the location where the plot and/or building is located. What is the story of the place? Who is its user, what is important and necessary for him when living/working/relaxing here? It is essential to get to know the person/s, find out what he does, what his wishes are. In essence, architecture and interior design are formed in the interaction between these components, which promotes the expression of creativity, allows ideas to arise and develop. Next, it is important to understand the flow/function of people and to play with it, to include it in a visual-spatial framework.

What is the way architecture and design contribute to change in the environment and society?

Architecture and design affect any person, both individually and collectively. On a larger scale - in the context of urban planning or block development, with the help of design, the environment can be adapted to modern needs, promote comfortable movement, thinking about the person/user primarily, providing all the necessary infrastructure. On a smaller scale - if the environment in which a person is made comfortable and pleasant, then the person "frees up" time to think about other tasks. Design helps to develop creativity in a person, increases work abilities in an interesting and motivating environment, and also creates the necessary feelings for people for calm or active rest.

For example, when looking at the office environment, it is important to first understand what is most important to the people who will stay here on a daily basis. How to achieve that a person will feel comfortable, and the created environment will promote his work abilities? One of Lauder Architects' current projects is the coworking space "Workland" in the new "Verde" office building. It is important to take into account that the premises will be used by many different people on a daily basis - both larger companies and people who work alone, as well as meetings with clients will be held here, both in person and remotely. Therefore, parallel to the working areas, the core of co-working spaces is very important - discussion, rest and dining areas, as well as "quiet" workplaces, which, together with the necessary infrastructure, create a unique environment with a story to associate with office users and visitors.

Interaction of interior design with other fields.

Architecture, interior and environment are not mutually exclusive, and man also interacts with the environment in which he is. Therefore, any project can be solved with an understanding of all these components. Architecture and interior can always be solved together with the client and other stakeholders – landscape architects, engineers, builders, artists, etc.

At the moment, in the "Lauder Architects" team, in addition to public projects, we are also working on several private house projects and we are glad that we have the opportunity to solve these projects in a complex way, thinking about the building's image, function and interior, thus creating a complete design environment.

What currently excites you, makes your eyes light up and how does it enrich your work?

It is definitely nature and its presence, also in architecture/interior. Sea, water, forest, rustle of wind. I am fascinated by the design process itself, the moment when the ideas are just "coming together" and the moment they are realized in life.
